Thank you to Kevin Drum of Mother Jones for giving us this inspiring list of things Pres. Obama has accomplish:
- Affordable Care Act
- Stimulus package
- Climate actions: Paris agreement, EPA power plant standards, auto mileage standards, etc.
- Dodd-Frank financial reform
- Iran nuclear treaty
- Killed Osama bin Laden
- Allowed gays to serve openly in the military
- New START treaty
- Delivered 74 consecutive months of job growth
- Declined to get seriously involved in Syria
The depressing thing, of course is how much of this is going to be overturned and so soon. Number 6, though, is different. Although the GOP has tried to downplay and diminish bin Laden’s death (a dear friend of mine insists Bush was president at the time!), it’s gonna be mighty, mighty hard to reverse that item.
Although now that I think about it, that would be truly a huge, maybe even a beautiful action for a new president, if you get my drift. He just might try, and he’d doubtless have a quisling Republican majority support. After all, only then could they truly say that they’d reversed every action that Kenyan interloper took.
